Lothar Matthaeus to coach Cameroon

Hamburg - German ex-footballer Lothar Matthaeus is to succeed Paul Le Guen as Cameroon national team coach, the German sports magazine Kicker reported Thursday.Citing unidentified sources, Kicker said Matthaeus had reached agreement in principle with Cameroon football supremo Mohammed Iya and that only his signature was missing.Kicker said Matthaeus did not want to comment on the matter.Matthaeus, 49, is Germany’s record-capped player with 150 matches and captained them to the 1990 World Cup title. He has coached the Hungarian national team in the past and his last appointment, at Israel club Maccabi Netanja, ended a year ago.The Frenchman Le Guen did not renew his contract after Cameroon crashed out of the World Cup last week by finishing last in Group E with defeats against the Netherlands, Denmark and Japan.Cameroon’ s next task is qualifying for the 2012 African Cup of Nations, which takes place in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. The Indomitable Lions are in group E along with Senegal, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Mauritius in the campaign due to start later this year.

That’s interesting to hear.

But as we all do know, We need good stadium with Grass to practice. Coaching of any sort will no help put not give our players the advantage over others who do have good coaches and a good pitch.

So let the Government do something first with the facilities and then that will follow..

We do not have at least 3 pitches that have got well kept and grown grass.

Some will say its the weather conditions.. That does not count.. I say so because even Tole Tea still stays fresh..

We’ve got the natural grass some foreign stadium’s management buy to keep theirs up to date.

We’ve got the water be it from a river or stream natural and in abundance..

So let CAMFOOT Put this proposal into place then the rest can follow.

My 2 Cents

The latest news now is that FECAFOOT is considering bringing back Paul Le Guen and extending his contract until 2014 despite our disastrous world cup

i remember when we won the olympics, the coach was a cameroonian. they keep spending money on these foreign coaches and they don’t do shit. are they trying to say that all the assistant coaches the contry has had for all these years can’t coach the team? why can’t they enrich our own fellowmen? this is crazy!!

My dear country man. we need no white to coach us. we have the guy around. let them take 3 of the 1990 football squad to train the new set of lions. i wipp propose milla, mboma and Massing the defender. that is all we need. let them take these home based player and trained them and forget the big messers we call professionals. football is coordination and not just playing.they need to play and develop style that they will understand. look at the big team play once A is goijg head B knows for sure that they will pass the ball to him. not the case that players will stand on the pitch and support their waist. God for bid bad things

My Dearest Country men, when i talk about football I denie to remember south Africa 2010. In fact cameroon was not present lets say so to keep our fan licenses from going to the bins.
All Nations in the world are using their nationals as coaches but I do not just understand what is wrong with cameroon. Is it fear or just stupidity? is cameroon football federation jealous of these legends? this thing is above my understanding as a man.If professional coaches and professional players can not play, i am 100% convinced local players and a local coach will do. Cameroon needs revival and prayers.

I think cameroon should try a national this time around. With foreigners,Cameroon failed in both 2006 and 2010 world cups.We should respect and give them the chance to show their love for their fatherland as coaches.......they are up to the task and we will accept whatever outcome...they can’t mess up na cuz they live here and they also know what the mob is up to esp back home.....no papa will give his child snake na when the child want na chop
