The inaugural University Debating tournament will be hosted from August 7 to 14, 2010 at the University of Buea will bring together young university students from across the country and offer them the opportunity to interact and discover international debating. The tournament will feature debate and public speaking competitions both in French and English, training workshops, interactive forums with leaders in business, civil society and government.
The inaugural national tournament will follow the rules of Karl Popper. Participants will debate controversial issues facing the Cameroon and African societies, international and global challenges, government policies, health, Central African integration and economic issues.
The practice of the debating as an intellectual exercise is growing in modern societies today and has a proven track record of having a direct impact on youth education and professional achievement as it helps to build their public speaking, argumentation and critical thinking skills.
Online registration is available on RESID website: http://www.resid.org and will run until July 10, 2010.
