Nkwame Nkrumah in 1963 started the whole idea of AFRICA UNITY,after he fought for the independence of GHANA,things did not go as plan.Today Ghadaffi and the rest are clamouring for Africa unity.America started as a confederation in which all the member states surrender their sovereingty and came together in a confederation,the only advantage was that member states had the right to seccede,today they are in a federation and development is faster,look at America,i think if Africa can follow suit then it would be better for all of us,but can this be possible when we have so many different ethnic groupings n cultures,different in languages and so on,bringing together the 53 African countries may posed so many problems,are our African leaders ready to give up their sovereingty for a central government,are we ready to loose some of our identity?But to my own point of view bringing Africans together can be a ver nice idea for us,we can only do this in a federation inwhich we shall have a common language,currency,constitution,identity papers,we can travel from one country to another without any bias,our own country shall become member states govern by state governors,a common army n defence forces,a common anthem and so on,can all these be possible?
We all know that our African leaders are presently in ACCRA Ghana debating on the issue of African Unity,some of them ve different opinions,some are of the opinion that the unity of Africa shd be a gradual process,i ask my self.How Gradual can we become after it was long that Nkwame Nkrumah brought abt this idea,some r of the opinion that similar regions with similar culture and languages should come to a federation n start from there like the EASTERN africa,others like the president of SENEGAL is ready to sign for the integration of AFRICA,OTHERS R OF THE OPINION THAT SMALLER COONTRIES should come together in a federation then the rest would follow suit but am of the opinion that Afica Unity should be immediate after careful planing of the federation
