AFTER THE STRIKE It was announced on chariot radio ( a radio station owned by the University of Buea) that classes have resumed on Friday 14th November 2008. contrary to this announcement made by chariot FM, some lecturers who were on the strike action told ubstudents.com that classes will only commence when they have a positive reply from the Minister or any higher authority concern to react.
It should be noted that this was exactly what happened during the student’s strike action that the students should come to class and things like that. It was rumored that after 4 days and no consideration is given to the problems raised by the lecturers, the students too will join and we all know what that means during the last strike action a soul went to heaven before its time and many other casualties recorded.
Since it concerns just the lecturers we are pleading that their problems be given due consideration so that the peaceful and serene academic environment taking place in the University of Buea should continue. We all want to avoid the ugly situation of any strike action no matter the reasons or motives for the strike action please let those concern act now before this go to the extent that it can’t be controlled.
We don’t know if the said classes will commence tomorrow as slated by the lecturers. Very soon notable some time around the first week of December, Continuous Assessment will commence in the various departments what have we learn since the commencement of this academic year? With the introduction of the BMP (Bachelors Masters PhD) programme in the Universities in Cameroon the work for the individual students is very heavy one full week of none classes could cause a major problem for the students. All we have to do is to keep our fingers crossed and see what happens next. |
